This is a super easy air fryer chicken quarters recipe is for beginners and expert users alike. If you are wondering how to cook frozen chicken quarters in the air fryer, this fool proof recipe is right up your alley and all you need to make a quick, and flavorful side dish for dinner.
1teaspoon dry basil Substitute with Oregano or Parsley)
½teaspoon salt
2 - 3Tablespoons oil
Instructions
If cooking from Frozen
Mix oil and spice blend to form marinade
Brush marinade on both sides of chicken. If there’s any left, reserve and brush it on the chicken when you flip to the other side.
Place chicken in the air fryer basket skin side up and cook at 400°F / 200°C for 10 mins, flip chicken over, cook for 15 mins then flip chicken over again and cook for another 5 mins. Check internal temperature with an instant read thermometer. It should read at least 165°F / 74°C. If it isn’t there yet, flip and cook for another 5 mins and check again.
Let chicken rest for 5 mins before serving.
If cooking from Fresh
Follow same steps above and cook for less time. Start checking for doneness at 25 mins.
Notes
No need to thaw, cook from frozen. If the chicken is stuck together, you can either run it under the tap water to defrost it enough to separate them or you precook in the air fryer at 400°F / 200°C for 5 mins before seasoning.
Mix the oil and spice blend to form a marinade before applying on the chicken.
Though the recommended internal temperature for chicken to be fully cooked and safe for consumption is 165°F / 74°C I like to cook my chicken leg quarters for longer especially when it’s a very large one. I usually get up to 185°F / 85°C and I find that it’s still juicy and tender.
