    What is Rotisserie Chicken

Rotisserie chicken is a type of whole roast chicken made in an that has a rotating spit rod. This rod is passed through the chicken cavity. The ‘spitted’ chicken is then grilled or roasted in the oven while it rotates.

If you are wondering if all whole roasted chicken are rotisserie, the answer is no because if a whole chicken is cooked without the rotisserie method, it’s just a roasted whole not a rotisserie chicken irrespective of if rotisserie seasoning is used.

Why reheat Rotisserie Chicken in air fryer

Easy: it’s easier to reheat in the air fryer than in the oven.

Quick: The microwave may be faster but the air fryer gives you a tastier result and is way easier and faster than the oven

Delicious: You can’t go wrong with reheating chicken in the air fryer. It always comes out delicious. Crispy skin with juicy meat

Reheating rotisserie chicken in air fryer is the best

Out of all the methods used to reheat rotisserie chicken like the oven or microwave, the air fryer is by far my favorite. The oven needs preheating and takes longer and the microwave though a tad faster won’t give you crispy chicken. You’re more likely to have soft skinned perhaps soggy and some hot spots.

That is not to say these methods don’t work, it’s just that my preference the air fryer next followed closely by the microwave because i don’t have the patience for my oven to preheat and summertime isn’t the best time to turn on your oven if you don’t need to.

How to reheat rotisserie chicken in the air fryer

You can decide to reheat the rotisserie chicken whole or you can carve it into parts and reheat. Carving the bird up is a faster way to reheat it than when it’s whole.

    Reheating it whole

Remove Place the whole chicken in the air fryer basket and if you the oven style air fryer with rotisserie function, you can use that too.

For the basket: Place whole chicken in the basket. Set temperature to 360°F / 180°C. Air fry for 8 to 10 mins or until warmed through. Remember to flip half way through cooking time.

For the spit (rotisserie function): Pass the spit rod through the chicken and set temperature to 360°F / 180°C and cook for 5 to 6 mins or until heated through.

    Reheating when carved into pieces

Place chicken pieces in the basket and air fry at 360°F / 180°C for 6 to 8 mins or until heated through. Flip chicken half way through.

Other ways to reheat rotisserie chicken

Though the air fryer is my no 1 choice, there are other methods that can be used if you don’t have an air fryer yet.

    Microwave

To reheat Costco rotisserie chicken or any store bought rotisserie chicken in the microwave, Remove chicken from

    Oven

Preheat oven to 350°F / 180°C / Gas mark 4. Place whole chicken in a baking dish and bake for 20 to 25 mins until heated through, you can cover the chicken with foil to prevent it from drying out or add some broth to the baking dish.

What to do with leftover rotisserie chicken

With rotisserie chicken or any whole chicken recipe, the options are endless when it comes to what to do with leftovers. From sandwiches to salads you’ll definitely get it’s of recipes from this chicken. Below are a few of our favorites.

    • Chicken pot pie
    • Cobb salad
    • Chicken rice soup
    • Cold sandwiches
    • Chicken pasta

How long is rotisserie chicken good for?

Cooked chicken is best consumed within 4 days when stored properly in the refrigerator. Rotisserie chicken is good in that refrigerator for up to 4 days. If you intend to keep for longer it’s best to store in the freezer. It would stay good for up to a month frozen.

    Frequently asked questions

Why is it called Rotisserie chicken?

It’s called rotisserie chicken because of the method by which it’s cooked. it is made by trussing the chicken and passing a rotisserie rod through the cavity. This rod will facilitate the rotation of that bird while it cooks.

Is rotisserie chicken the same as roasted chicken?

Rotisserie chicken is a type of roasted chicken however not all roasted chicken is rotisserie. Roasting a whole bird in the air fryer or oven without the rotisserie rod rotating the chicken isn’t a rotisserie chicken, that’s a simply roasted chicken. To qualify to be called rotisserie it must be cooked using the rotisserie method.

Why is rotisserie chicken so cheap?

Costco’s rotisserie chicken is sold at $4.99 and you might wonder why that is so when a fresh whole chicken sells for an average of $9.99. I did some digging and here are a few theories I found. It believed to be a marketing strategy to keep the cost low to encourage consumers to buy more which in the long run would boost sales. The convenience of rotisserie chicken for dinner or for use in any recipe can’t be overemphasized. You can read this article for more information.
