How long to cook bacon wrapped tater tot bombs in air fryer
It will take any where from 12 to 15 mins at 400°F (200°) to cook these in an air fryer. That’s how long it took me to cook it in my Cosori air fryer without preheating.
However remember you can always adjust the time upwards or downwards depending on how crispy you want your bacon and if you preheat expect it to cook a bit faster so check on your food often.

Cut each bacon strip / rasher into thirds. Then wrap each tater tot with a piece of the bacon. Next arrange the bacon wrapped tater tots in the air fryer basket or tray seam side down.
Air fry at 400°F (200°C) for 12 to 15 mins flipping half way through. At this point the frozen tater tots are cooked through and the bacon crispy. If this isn’t the case in your air fryer, add a couple of minutes more till you reach your desired bacon texture.

How to store and reheat
If you have leftovers let them cool completely. Place them in an airtight container or ziplock bag and store them in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
To reheat, place bacon wrapped tater tots in the air fryer basket or tray and air fry at 400°F (200°C) for 3 to 5 mins or until heated through. You may need to add a couple more minutes if they were frozen.
Air frying Tips
- This was made in a non preheated air fryer. If you preheat your air fryer, it will likely cook a couple of minutes faster than indicated in this recipe.
- Bacon shrinks as it cooks so ensure you have this in mind when cutting the bacon. Use your discretion, if you think it won’t stay put, especially if you don’t have toothpicks, cut each rasher into 2 instead of 3 pieces
- Don't overcrowd the basket: Avoid overcrowding the air fryer basket as it may affect the cooking time and result in unevenly cooked bacon wrapped tater tots. Cook them in batches if necessary.
- You can customize this Bacon wrapped deliciousness to your taste. From spice options to dipping sauce variations, there’s something for everyone.
- Flip halfway through cooking: Flip the bacon wrapped tater tots halfway through the cooking time to ensure that both sides are evenly cooked and crispy.
- You may need to adjust the cooking time depending on the size of your air fryer and the thickness of the bacon.
FAQs
Here you’ll find answers to common questions about this recipe. If your question isn’t answered, please leave us a comment below and we’ll gladly answer them.
Yes, you can bake bacon wrapped tater tots in the oven instead of air frying or deep frying them.
Preheat the oven to 400°F (205°C) and place the bacon wrapped tater tots on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Bake for 20-25 minutes, turning once halfway through cooking, until the bacon is crispy and the tater tots are cooked through.
I’ve not has this issue yet. This can be caused by cutting the bacon unevenly so some are too short to wrap the bacon making difficult for the bacon to get sealed as it cooks and shrinks.
If this is the case, you can secure the tater tots with toothpicks. Insert a toothpick through the bacon and into the tater tot to hold it in place. Insert in such a way that the toothpicks eventually serve as the serving sticks.
Yes, you can make bacon wrapped tater tots ahead of time and store them in the refrigerator for up
to 2 days or freezer for up to a week.
When ready to serve reheat in the air fryer at 400°F (200°C) for 3 to 5 mins or until heated through. Add more time as needed.
I see no reason why not. Yes you can use homemade tater tots instead of frozen. Cooking time will vary since they are not frozen. Start checking for doneness at 8 mins and add more time as needed.
Bacon wrapped tater tots go well with a variety of dipping sauces, including ketchup, ranch dressing, BBQ sauce, honey mustard, and sriracha mayo. You can also experiment with different sauces to find your own favorite!
