FAQs
Should you boil potatoes before air frying
You do not need to boil or nuke potatoes bright air frying. You could do so if you want to cook in less time but I hardly ever do that. The only tint I have boiled potatoes before air frying was with these air fryer parmentier potatoes and that was because in the traditional recipe, potatoes are boiled before roasting.
Can you cook potatoes in the air fryer without oil?
Though you can cook potatoes from scratch without oil in the air fryer if you want to, however I do not recommend it. Cooking the potatoes without oil will make the outside of the potatoes tough and rubbery. The only exception is when making frozen fries. Frozen french fries or sweet potato fries are pre fried so they have oil on them. You do not need to use oil for most frozen fries brands.
Do you have to poke potatoes or wrap in foil before air frying?
You do not have to poke potatoes or wrap in foil before air frying.
Should you peel potatoes?
Depending on the recipe you are making, you may or may not need to peel the potatoes. It’s a personal preference. Most cubed potatoes are peeled before air frying. Some people prefer not to peel potatoes wedges. One thing to do is to make sure you wash /scrub your potatoes thoroughly if you decide to cook with this skin. Another tip is to shop organic if you don’t like peeling the potatoes before cooking.
